SMTP Services
InterScan Gateway Security Appliance gives the administrator flexibility in configur-
ing how the SMTP scanning service behaves. For example, you can specify:
• The attachment types to scan
• The individuals to notify when a virus is detected
• The action that InterScan Gateway Security Appliance takes upon detecting the
security risk, namely clean, delete, remove, or quarantine.
InterScan Gateway Security Appliance SMTP Services include the following
features:
• Real-time scanning of incoming and outgoing SMTP email traffic
• Scanning for viruses/malware, spyware/grayware, bots, spam, inappropriate
contents, links to phishing sites
• IntelliScan, which uses true file type identification when scanning (which
protects against the "email security flaw")
• Automatic, customizable virus notifications
• Option to clean, delete, remove, pass, or quarantine infected files
• Size filtering
• Ability to insert customized notification stamps in messages
Trend Micro Anti-Spam Engine (TMASE) is an anti-spam engine built into the
appliance that works even if Email Reputation Services is not enabled.
