The Trap MIB
3-41
Link Security Table
The Total Control modems provide link-level security that is
compatible with the Courier modem product line. Each modem is
individually configurable with regard to prompts, passwords, etc.,
by virtue of the mdmLsTable. Modem link security and Total
Control modem security are mutually exclusive. That is to say that
a modem can only be configured for one or the other. If both
modes of security are configured, Total Control modem security
takes precedence on rack modems in the chassis.
Cellular Support Table
Each modem that supports Cellular operations can be configured
for Cellular V.42ETC and MNP10 parameters from this table
(mdmCeTable). If your modems do not function in Cellular mode,
they may not have Cellular support enabled; call U.S. Robotics
Customer Support.
The Trap MIB
The CHS_TRAP MIB defines each of the enterprise-specific SNMP
Traps that can be generated by the MP/16's proxy agent for
devices in the chassis. Each Trap definition is annotated with
comments following the description and before the Trap number.
These comments are for the use of Novell's NMS software.
Novell's alarm integrator uses the information within these
comments to process received Traps and log them in a user
friendly way.
There are many IMPORTs from other U.S. Robotics MIBs in the
CHS_TRAP MIB. These IMPORTs are necessary for the definition
of the var-bind list of the Traps defined in this MIB.
Also note that the Traps generated by the chassis use the U.S.
Robotics (enterprise 429) node for the enterprise OID in the Traps.
The enterprise OID does not use the sysObjectId reported by the
MP/16. It is planned that all SNMP-manageable devices
manufactured by U.S. Robotics will define enterprise Traps within
the same space under the U.S. Robotics enterprise.
