However, when a packet is received from the WAN interface that
is
not
bound for the subnet attached to the LAN interface, the MP
will forward it to the device specified by the Gateway IP address (a
router in this case).
NOTE:
If the router (and gateway IP address) was on the subnet
attached to the WAN port, the situation would be reversed. In
other words, it would receive some of the packets arriving at the
LAN port.
Nevertheless, the MP/16 is not designed to be a router. It cannot
send a packet out the same interface that it was received from. In
the example above, the MP would not know what to do with a
packet received from its LAN port unless that packet was destined
for the subnet attached directly to the WAN port. The MP cannot
return such a packet to the router. Instead, it will simply respond
with a redirect request, telling the device sending the packet to try
elsewhere.
Enter

at the Configuration menu to view or change Gateway IP
address.
Gateway IP Address
Current Gateway IP Address = 192.77.203.126
Press Return or press Esc to exit.
Enter New Gateway IP Address:

To change the IP address, enter a new address at the prompt and
press Return, or press the Esc key to cancel and exit to the previous
screen.
4—Local Ethernet MAC Address
The network port has a unique Ethernet MAC address burned in at
the factory. This MAC address cannot be changed. To view the
MAC address, type
