The Modem MIB
3-35
command in the modem, can initiate these commands, but without
the benefits provided by the command table (i.e., mutual exclusion
in the case of multiple management consoles, etc.).
The remainder of the objects in this table are parameters that
provide settings for the tests and results of the V.54 tests.
DTE Interface Table
The objects in the mdmDiTable characterize the operation of the
modem's DTE interface. See the MIB text for a complete
description of each parameter and the relationship of that object to
modem AT commands.
There is one special object in this table. The mdmDiAtString object
is simply a configurable AT command. The intention of this object
is to provide a "backdoor" means to access late breaking modem
features through management if a new modem feature MIB object
has not yet been implemented in the NMC. The NMC can save this
parameter to NVRAM, and will configure this parameter last when
doing an autoconfigure or restore from NMC NVRAM. That
means that if a conflict exists between a MIB object and an AT
command in this string, this string will win out, since it is acted
upon last. Note that all versions of the modem do not support this
object.
Signal Converter Table
The objects in the mdmScTable characterize the operation of the
modem's signal converter. This includes control of allowed
modulation schemes, and specific characteristics for certain
modulations. A number of complex controls are available to tailor
V.Fast and V.34 modulations. See the MIB text for a complete
description of each parameter and the relationship of that object to
modem AT commands.
Call Control Table
The objects in the mdmCcTable characterize the way the modem
sets up and tears down calls. Included here are ANI, DNIS, and
other configurable parameters with regard to a modem's T1
interface. See the MIB text for a complete description of each
parameter and the relationship of that object to modem AT
commands.
