EIA RS-232 Pinouts
A-1
Appendix A EIA RS-232
Pinouts
The modems in the Total Control MP/16 must receive the proper
EIA RS-232 signaling from the equipment to which they are
connected. If your equip ment has RJ45 interfaces that conform to
EIA RS-232 standards, then the modems in the MP/16 can be
cabled directly to your equipment using the provided RJ45 cables.
Your equipment might require a DB-9 or DB-25 connector, or even
a four-wire RJ11 connector. Other equipment might have non-
standard interfaces that require special wiring. You may even be
trying to connect the MP to equipment that was designed for DTE
devices (dumb terminals) as opposed to DCE devices such as the
MP/16.
Refer to the following sections for the proper pinout conversions
for whichever interface your equipment requires. You may need to
reference your equipment’s documentation to determine what
signal assignments it requires.
