must be entered to acti-
vate the respective broadcast. This PIN code is stored on the respective smartcard and you
will receive it together with the card. Therefore, the
smartcard PIN code

to be
mixed up with
Unit PIN code
of the digital receiver (Section 9.3) A message will be
displayed as soon as you switch on a program with blocked broadcasts.

Use the
numerical keypad
to enter the 4-digit
smartcard PIN-code
in order
to activate the broadcast.

The broadcast is activated as soon as the correct pin code has been entered.
The PIN code can be re-entered, if you make a mistake the first time or press the
Return
key to exit the menu.
7.4 Volume control
The volume of your digital receiver can be adjusted. This facilitates handling of the receiver,
since you have all important functions on the remote control and only rarely must use the
remote control of your TV set. The volume retains the last adjustment when you turn your
digital receiver on again.

Regulate the volume of your digital receiver with the
louder key and with
the
Volume -
quieter key.
>
Pressing the
Sound off/on
key turns the sound off, renewed pressing of this key
turns the sound on again.
Please note:
The volume of the digital audio outputs cannot be controlled.
7.5 Selecting another language
A message will be displayed, if a program is broadcast in several languages or has several
audio channels. Proceed as follows to set a different language or a different audio channel:

Press the
Select language
key.
A list of the languages that are currently being broadcast will be displayed on the
screen.

Use the
up/down arrow keys
to mark the language that you want and then press
OK
to confirm.
You will now be able to listen to the program in the language that you have set. Your
digital receiver can also receive mono broadcasts.

Use the
left/right arrow keys
to select between mono-channel 1(
), mono-
channel 2 (
) and stereo (
).
7.5.1 Dolby Digital (AC3 mode)
If a program is being broadcast in Dolby Digital sound, this will be indicated by the Dolby
sign being displayed in the Infobox when the broadcast is switched on. If the function Dolby
Digital (AC3) has been activated according to Section 6.3.6, this channel will be shown in
this format automatically .
Proceed as follows, if the
Dolby Digital (AC3)
function is not switched on, to set your
device manually to AC3 mode:
