4. HA-3 Chassis Overall Block

HA-3 Chassis Overall Block

The HA-3 TV chassis is the first direct view TV that contains a DTV decoder. This decoder is identified as the “Q”
box and is a shielded assembly within the TV. Currently only the KD-34XBR2 model houses the HA-3 chassis.
The major stages of the model KD-34XBR2 bridge several boards as shown in Figure 4-1. These stages are:

Video Processing Stage (B board)

•

Deflection Stages (described in detail within the DTV-02 training manual) (D board)

Power Supply

The power supply consists of three parts as shown in Chart 4-1:

Supplies the deflection (D) board with the higher voltages such as 200V (HV), 135V (H
Defection), and 24V (audio).

The Primary power supply starts the secondary supply using a Pri-Pre 15V line. Once the Secondary power
supply operates, these voltages supply the deflection circuitry on the D board and the HV starts.
