Connecting a motor holding brake
WARNING
Electric shock due motor holding brake connections
The connections of the motor holding brake are energized with hazardous voltages.
Touching live components can result in death or severe injury.
•
Disconnect the line voltage to the inverter and wait during the 5-minute discharge time
before connecting the motor holding brake.
•
Always keep the motor terminal box closed when line voltage is applied to the converter.
NOTICE
Risk of damage to equipment due to grounding of motor connecting cable
The connections of the motor holding brake are energized. If you ground the motor holding
brake connections, you will damage the converter.
•
Use cables with suitable insulation.
•
Isolate unused cables individually.
•
The unused cables must not be grounded.
Connect the cables for the motor
holding brake as follows to the X2
connector of the Power Module:
•
Terminal 4 – Brake (-)
•
Terminal 6 – Brake (+)
If the motor holding brake is connected via the Power Module with the converter, the motor
holding brake is supplied with 180 V DC and the converter monitors the proper functioning of
the brake.
