SurroundControl 31900/31960 Series

The following options are available for the external refe-
rence source:

•

Monitoring Input

The monitoring input signal selected by the user is
used as external reference source.

• Auto

This setting automatically polls the digital inputs for a
valid digital signal. As soon as a valid signal is found
it is used as the reference sync signal. If this signal is
no longer available the system polls the other inputs
until it ﬁ nds a valid signal, and the digital inputs are
muted while this is being done.

•

Use Ref Input

Presets the system to the

Ref Sync IN

input connec-

tor (see

Connection

chapter).

NOTE -

No automatic search is performed

when this setting is activated! If there is no reference
sync signal, the digital input signals are no longer dis-
played and the analog input signals are only displayed
with a very narrow bandwidth.

•

One of the eight available digital input pairs can be
selected so that its digital signals can be used as the
reference sync signal:

NOTE -

No automatic search is performed

Use SDI Input

If using the signal connected to the

SDI interface

the SDI source must always be the master.

•

Force reference source to SDI input if monitoring SDI

If one of the digital inputs, the

Auto Search

function or

the reference input is selected for the reference sour-
ce, with this option the unit can be forced to switch its
reference to the

SDI input

whenever monitoring a SDI

source. This option can be seen as a special version of the

Monitoring Input

option (see above) where the reference

source only follows the monitoring selection in case

SDI

is selected for monitoring. For all other monitoring sources
except SDI the unit will use the reference source selected
under

External Reference Source

(see above).

NOTE -

Monitoring Input

Use SDI Input

selected for the external reference source, this option of
course is not available.

•

A-D Samplerate Source

Using this option, it is possible to deﬁ ne a separate sam-
ple rate source only for the A-D converters of the unit.
For example, this can be useful to synchronize the A-D
converters to the internal 96 kHz clock while the unit is
locked to a 48 kHz digital input signal.

•

A-D locked to internal samplerate
The A-D converters are always locked to the internal
reference selected for the unit.

NOTE -

Activating this option will disable the

downmix from a digital input source during the time
an analog source is selected for monitoring. Digital si-
gnals are synchronized to the closest available digital
sample rate.

•

A-D follows reference below
The A-D converters use the digital reference source
selected in the combo box now available below.
The following options are available:
• Auto

This setting automatically polls the digital inputs
for a valid digital signal. As soon as a valid signal
is found it is used as the reference sync signal. If
this signal is no longer available the system polls
the other inputs until it ﬁ nds a valid signal, and
the digital inputs are muted while this is being
done.
