9.1.1 | Local vs. Global Settings
Of course, all confi guration data set in the menu is saved in the unit. The memory system consists of two different areas holding
local
and
global
settings.
Local settings (Instrument Settings)
Local settings are hold in 7 factory presets and 7 user presets.
The local settings are changed any time the user loads a new
preset to refl ect the stored settings. All settings made on the
Instrument Settings
page of the menu are
local
settings
saved only for the selected preset. Presets are, for example, a
good way of storing the individual settings for each user wor-
king with the unit.
Global Settings
The parameters set on all other menu pages are
global
set-
tings. They are stored globally and independent of the loaded
preset. This means they won’t change when a new preset is
loaded. Global settings contain parameters which most users
do not need to modify in daily use, for example settings related
to the studio environment, sync sources, reference levels etc.
NOTE -
The
Global Settings
are stored separately
from the (local) instrument settings. There is always only one
set of global settings - you cannot store different versions as
you can for the local settings/user presets.
Local Settings
Global Settings
The input/output routing of the system is very fl exible and
can be part of the local or the global settings alternatively. If
the routing from/to the physical input and output connectors
should be fi xed for a certain installation and should not being
altered by a preset change, it can be set globally using the
Input/Output Routing
menu page. If the user prefers to vary
the routing when loading a preset instead, the same parame-
ters can be accessed on the
Instrument Settings
page as
well and stored within any user preset. For each preset, the
user can defi ne whether this preset should use its own indivi-
dual local input/output routing (
Use Local Routing Settings
)
or the global routing instead.
