8.8.1 | Changing parameters
Many options for controlling the Monitoring instrument functions are available in the menu. Please refer to the detailed descrip-
tions in this Chapter (see below) and in chapters
Control and Menu .

8.8.2 | Functions of the MONITORING instrument
First function layer
• Mono Mode
(First layer, button/key 1)
This function enables you to select the loudspeaker you
want to send the mono signal to when you press the
M
key on the Remote Control 30050 unit (31900 series)
resp. the control panel of the 31960 series. Selecting this
function opens a new function layer in the Toolbar with the
following button/key assignments:
(1) Center (only with Surround modes)
(2) L
(3) R
(4) L + R
(5) All resp. All w/o LF (only with Surround modes)
(6) Close (return to previous layer)
The selection is activated immediately. After you make
your selection the Toolbar remains displayed to allow you
to compare the effects of different settings. You must
select button/key
6 Close to switch back to the previous
function layer.
• DIM Level
(First layer, button/key 2)
This function is used to set the amount of dimming (level
attenuation) applied when you press the
DIM key on the
Remote Control 30050 unit (31900 series, detailed de-
scription in Chapter
Control ) resp. the control panel of the
31960 series or by an external control signal. Selecting
this function opens an additional function layer in the Tool-
bar with the following button/key assignments:
(1) +10 dB
(2) +1 dB
(3) –1 dB
(4) –10 dB
Pressing button/key 1 through 4 increases or de-
creases the setting by the corresponding value. The
result is displayed in window 3. Activating the
Mute
function (button/key 5 ) switches the display off.
