CHAPTER 15:  OTHER PRECAUTIONS

4.  Replacement of the Print drum PCB

From machine firmware version V2.00 and up, it is not necessary to take memo of the test mode values
memorized in the existing Print drum PCB, when replacing the PCB with a new one.

Make sure that the firmware version of the machine is V2.00 or above, before following the Print
drum PCB replacement procedure.   Firmware version before V2.00 does not contain the required
program for this procedure.

The test mode values in the existing Print drum PCB is extracted out and downloaded onto the new PCB by
following procedure.

NOTE:

It is always safer to keep the up-to-date test mode setting data for each machine readily in hand just
in case the existing Print drum PCB is damaged to an extent that data extraction from the PCB
cannot be performed.

1. Upload the test mode values from the existing (defective) Print drum PCB onto a Compact Flash (CF)

card by following procedure.

1-1.

With the print drum in the machine, turn OFF the machine power and place the CF card in
the machine slot.

1-2.

Turn ON the machine power by starting up Test Mode

1-3.

Activate test mode No.104 [Drum-parameter adjustment upload].

1-4.

Turn OFF the machine power once the test mode No.104 is completed.

3. Attach the new PCB onto the machine, insert CF card with the machine firmware and download the

machine firmware onto the PCB by turning the machine power ON.   Once the firmware downloading is
completed, turn OFF the machine power and remove the CF card from the machine slot.

4. Turn ON the machine power by starting up Test Mode.  If an error message appears, clear the message

by pressing the Rest Key.    Activate test mode No.9874 and then activate test mode No.1198 [Memory
initialization], and turn OFF the power once the test mode No.1198 is completed.

5. Turn the machine power back ON by starting up Test Mode.  If an error message appears, clear the

message by pressing the Rest Key.   Activate test mode No.9874.   Then activate test mode No.1193
[REv storage area initialization].

6. Then do the three test modes No.110, No.111 and No.112 to clear the jam status data, user memory

and test mode data memory.

7. Download the existed test mode value onto the new PCB by following given steps below.

7-1.

Turn OFF the machine power, and insert the CF card containing the previously uploaded
test mode data.

7-2.

Turn ON the machine power by starting up Test Mode, and activate test mode No.105
[System-parameter adjustment download].

7-3.

Turn OFF the machine power once the test mode No.105 is competed, and pull out the
CF card from the machine slot.

8. On model RZ3 (not necessary for RZ2 models), turn ON the machine power by starting up test mode,

and input the correct machine clock time with test modes No.171, No.172, No.173, and finally activate
the new time setting by test mode No.101.

9. Turn OFF the machine power and then turn the power back ON, and confirm that the machine goes into

normal operating condition.
