Synchronization
MediorNet is a synchronized network to broadcast digital Video, Audio and data signals in real-time. The
synchronization of the system can be done internally or by an external synchronization source.
One MediorNet Frame serves the synchronization clock and is defined as Sync-Master. In case this Frame
fails, another Frame will take over the synchronization responsibility to synchronize the network. By setting
synchronization priorities, the Sync-Master can be defined.
The synchronization information is supplied via fiber to all MediorNet Frames in the network. Hence all
output signals are synchronous to each other, independent of the fiber length.
All settings can be found in the menu
System / Configure Fram e Synchronization (see chapter
Frame
Synchronization
).
Figure 306: Fram e Synchronization
In the default setting (no priority is set) the Frame with the highest serial number is defined as Sync-Master.
After defining the priorities (None, Master, Secondary Master, Tertiary Master) of the Frames, the Frame with
the highest priority is switched to Sync-Master. If this Frame fails, the Frame with the next priority overtakes
the synchronization distribution.
If an external synchronization signal (Blackburst, TriLevel, WordClock) is attached to the Frame, the
synchronization format is displayed in the field
Sync In.
If a failure is detected on the external synchronization signal, the error is displayed in the
Sync Error field.
The format of the output synchronization signal is displayed in the
Sync Out field.
By checking the checkbox
VITC Out, the MediorNet Timecode is embedded in the Sync-Signal.
By checking the checkbox
Leading Sync Out, the Sync signal at the SYNC OUT port of this Frame is generated
500µs before the MediorNet wide sync signal.
TC Source and TC Mode show information’s, if a Timecode is detected on the external connected
synchronization signal at
SYNC IN port.
The button
Restore Sync. Priorities switches back to the original Sync-Master (f.i. if a Secondary Master was
used). A short signal interruption may occur by changing the Sync-Master.
