6. Once all tips or tools have been released from the pipetting channels, discard any tips or
plungers and replace any tools in their appropriate tool holder (Figure 38). When plunger
tools are removed from the channels, confirm that the o-ring is still present on the plunger
tool before placing it back in the tool holder. When gripper paddles are removed from the
channels, replace them in the tool holder so that the pins and magnets are facing toward
the center of the tool holder.

7. Press the power button to turn on the Maxprep™ Liquid Handler. Restart the computer.
Start the Maxprep™ software by double-clicking the Maxprep™ software icon on the
desktop.
8. From the ‘Home’ screen press
Maintenance,
and then run the Weekly Maintenance
method. This method will prompt you to clean the deck of the instrument and then will
check the calibration of the pipetting channels, the performance of the liquid level sensing
mechanisms and the integrity of the pipetting system.
9. If the Weekly Maintenance method proceeds to completion and the report indicates that
Weekly Maintenance has passed, you are clear to run further methods on the system.
10. If the Weekly Maintenance method does not complete, or the report indicates that Weekly
Maintenance has not passed, contact Promega Technical Services (
)
to troubleshoot the issue and determine whether to schedule a service visit before running
the system again.
