5.3 Starting a Method (continued)
If for any reason you need to pause the instrument during a run, press the
Pause
button. The
instrument will finish the current step, and the door will unlock, allowing you access to the inside
of the instrument. When you are finished with the pause, close the instrument door and press
the
Resume
button to resume the run.
Note: The method run will abort immediately if the door of the Maxprep™ Liquid Handler is
open when the Resume button is pressed. Make sure to close the door of the Maxprep™
Liquid Handler when resuming a method run after a pause.
If you need to abort the method run currently in progress, press the
Abort
button.
If there is a need to perform an immediate stop of the Maxprep™ Liquid Handler during a run,
press the power button to power the instrument off. The method run will be aborted, and the
doors will unlock.
Completion of a Method
Methods can end through one of three mechanisms:
• The method completes successfully.
• The method is aborted by the user .
• The method is aborted as a result of an instrument error.
Method Completes Successfully
When the method completes successfully there will be a message indicating that the method
has completed successfully (Figure 35).

Any samples being
processed will be lost
if a run is aborted.
