Using Parental Control

Locking Ratings

Passport DCT lets you lock ratings so that household members can only watch programs with
locked ratings if they know the PIN. You select ratings for locking with the Lock Ratings option in
the Parental Control preference as described in the procedure below. Once you have specified the
settings, you turn locking on and off to manage blocking and unblocking of selected programming.
For a detailed overview of how parental control functions, refer to About Parental Control, page 97.

Note: You can select to lock all titles rated NC-17 and NR-Adult by using the Lock Titles option discussed on

Locking Titles, page 110.

The following table provides a description of each program rating. This table is organized by rating
from least mature content to most mature content. When you lock ratings, ratings with a more
mature content than the rating you locked are automatically locked with your rating selection.
Looking at the table, this means that the ratings below the one you select will all be locked. For
example, if you lock the rating NA, all ratings will be locked. If you lock the rating R, this also locks
the ratings NC-17 and NR (Adult).
