6 Press the A button to accept the message and complete the procedure. The program guide
displays showing the program selected in yellow with the REC timer symbol (either the single
instance symbol or the multiple instance symbol).
7 Once the timer is set, you can turn off the settop and television. Do not turn off the VCR; it
must remain on. While the program is recording, the following occurs:
• The settop displays REC.
• Most of the remote buttons are locked. This is to maintain the integrity of the active
recording. Once you push the STOP or EXIT button, the other control buttons becomes
functional.
• Note also that the audio level is automatically converted to the optimal level for recording
(FIXED) until the recording is complete. It then automatically reverts to the previous level
set.
Note: If you turn off the settop, it turns on automatically when the program starts and turn off afterwards.
To disable the recording once it has started, you can use the EXIT or STOP button to override the
automatic settings.
Setting a VCR Timer For a Future PPV Program
You can use the Program Guide to select your PPV program or you can go directly to the PPV
channel and make the purchase. Setting the VCR timer is a part of the PPV program purchase
procedure. For a specific procedure, refer to either Purchasing Future PPV Programs From the
Program Guide, page 124 or Purchasing Programs From PPV Channels, page 128.
Note: If Parental Control is set for the program (via any of the Parental Control parameters), that taped
program is unlocked during the purchase only. You do not need to unlock it again at the beginning
of recording. Parental control are fully functional before and after the VCR recording.
