Setting Up Your VCR Controls
Once the timer is set, you can turn off the settop and television.
Do not
turn off the VCR; it must
remain on. While the program is recording, the following occurs:
• The settop displays REC.
• Most of the remote buttons are locked. This is to maintain the integrity of the active
recording. Once you push the STOP or EXIT button, the other control buttons become
functional.
• Note also that the audio level is automatically converted to the optimal level for recording
(FIXED) until the recording is complete. It then automatically reverts to the previous level
set.
The settop turns on automatically when the program starts and turn off afterwards.
Modifying or Canceling a VCR Timer
You can modify a VCR timer’s state (activate, suspend or cancel it) or modify the instance type. This
can be accomplished via the program guide or the Settings Menu. These procedures are covered in
the following sections:

Note: If you cancel a PPV purchase, the VCR timer is canceled as part of that procedure.
