Note: There should be no Card inserted in the “/A:/” drive while Nortel 
Remote Agent Observe is in normal operation

5. The XA firmware can be upgraded by typing the following from the shell:

upgradeXa “<server IP address>”, “<userid>”, “<password>”, 

“<path>”, “<filename>” <CR>.

Where <Server IP Address> is the IP address of the Nortel Remote Agent 
Observe Card. <userid> and <password> are the same as the shell username/ 
password on the Nortel Remote Agent Observe Card. <path> is the location on 
the card where the XA firmware is located.

6. When the upgrade function is complete, reboot the card.

XA Upgrade using FTP to transfer firmware to Compact Flash Card.

1. FTP the XA firmware onto the “/C:” drive using the same method to that 

outlined above for transferring the application load.

2. Reboot the card and boot into the bootROM load. To enter the bootROM load, 

reboot the card and when the card is rebooting, the user will be prompted to 
enter “jkl” to gain access to the bootROM.

3. The XA firmware can be upgraded by typing the following from the shell:

upgradeXa “<server IP address>”, “<userid>”, “<password>”, 

“<path>”, “<filename>” <CR>.

Where <Server IP Address> is the IP address of the Nortel Remote Agent 
Observe Card. <userid> and <password> are the same as the shell username/ 
password on the Nortel Remote Agent Observe Card. <path> is the location on 
the card where the XA firmware is located.

4. When the upgrade function is complete, reboot the card.
