Supervisor or User Password Setting
You can set either the “Supervisor” or the “User” password, or both.
Supervisor Password:
Sets a password that will be used to protect the
system and the “Setup” utility.
User Password:
Sets a password that will be used exclusively on
the system.
To Specify a Password: Select the password option you want, then press
<Enter>. The following message will appear at the center of the screen to
assist you in creating a password:
ENTER PASSWORD:
Type the password (up to eight characters in length) and press <Enter>. This
password will now clear any previously entered passwords from CMOS
memory. You will be asked to confirm the password. Retype the password and
press <Enter>. You can also press <Esc> to abort the selection and not enter a
password. After setting a password, the screen automatically returns to the
main screen.
To Disable a Password: Press <Enter> when you are prompted to enter the
password. A message (as shown below) will confirm that the password has
been disabled and the system will reboot. You can now enter “Setup” freely.
PASSWORD DISABLED
When a password has been enabled, you will be prompted to enter it every
time you try to enter “Setup.” This prevents an unauthorized person from
changing any part of your system configuration. You can request a password
prompt every time your system is rebooted. This would prevent unauthorized
use of your computer at all times.
