CRANKSHAFT REAR OIL SEAL
REMOVAL (WITHOUT REMOVING
CRANKSHAFT)

NOTIC E: Care m u s t b e taken n o t to d am ag e the
c ran ksh aft o u ts id e d ia m e te r surface w ith the
pry tool.
1. Rear crankshaft oil seal.
• Pry the seal out with a screwdriver. Take care
not to scratch the crankshaft.
MAIN BEARING REMOVAL
(WITHOUT REMOVING THE
CRANKSHAFT)
R em ove or D isconnect
Tool Required:
J 8080 Main Bearing Rem over/Installer
1. Main bearing caps (124 and 126).
• C heck the main bearing caps for location
markings. Mark the caps if necessary. The
caps m ust be re tu rn e d to th e ir o rig in a l
locations during assembly.
2. Lower main bearing inserts (86) from the main
bearing caps.
3. Upper main bearing inserts (86).
• Insert J 8080 into the crankshaft oil hole.
• Rotate the crankshaft to “ turn” the bearing out
of the block.
CAMSHAFT REMOVAL
|+ + | R em ove or D isco n n ect (Figures 5, 20 and 21)
• Turn the cam shaft (108) until the bolts (103) are
visible through the holes in the cam shaft gear (104).
1. Bolts (103).
2. Camshaft (108). Pull the cam shaft out of the block.
Support the camshaft carefully when removing
to prevent damage to the camshaft bearings.
