Inspection of power-assisted steering oil level
Inspection of free path of steering wheel
As shown in the following, check the oil level of
power-assisted steering oil.
1. Park your automobile on a horizontal surface,
and pull up the parking brake handle.
2. Remove the cap.
3. Check whether the oil level falls within “cold”
(cold engine) or “hot” (warm engine).
4. If the oil level is too low, slowly add specified
liquid oil as required. Never add oil excessively.
For recommended power-assisted steering oils,
see Section 15.
Warning
If the oil level too low or fuel volume is reduced
considerably, contact the local special service store
for inspection of the system.
Turn gently the steering wheel from its dead-ahead
position rightwards and leftwards till resistance may
be felt, and then measure the free path.
Check whether or not the free path falls within the
prescribed limits.
Danger
If the free path does not fall within the prescribed
limit, contact the local special service store
immediately for inspection of the system.
