Prior to engine start-up
Start the engine
1. Perform prestarting inspection.
See Section 13.
2. Check the peripheral safety before you enter
into your automobile.
3. Ensure that the parking brake handle is pulled
up.
4. Regulate the seat positions, backrest angle and
headrest height.
5. Regulate the interior and exterior rearview
mirrors.
6. Fasten the seat belts.
7. Turn off unwanted lights and attachments.
8. Check the fuel gauge and verify whether or not
the fuel is enough for driving.
Warning
Do not allow the starter to rotate
consecutively for 10 seconds or more.
Do not allow the cold engine to operate at
high speed for fear of damages to the engine.
Maintain a temperate driving speed till
engine warming-up is fully finished.
Bridging setup procedures
At start-up of your automobile, the electronic fuel
injection system may exercise automatic control so as
to maintain an appropriate air fuel ratio.
1. Depress the clutch pedal completely and keep it in
that position till the engine is started up (manual
transmission).
2. Switch the gear change hand lever to neutral
(manual transmission) or "P" gear (automatic
transmission).
3. Set the ignition switch to the “ON” position.
Ensure that the warning lights go on.
4. Move your foot away from the accelerator pedal,
and set the ignition switch to the “START”
position and then release it.
5. Check and verify that all warning lights go out
except for the brake warning lights.
6. Do not allow a cold engine to operate at high
speed.
If the air temperature is below zero, allow the
engine to warm up for a few minutes prior to
driving.
When ambient temperature is extremely low
When ambient temperature is lower than -20
℃
, it may
take some time to start up the engine after the ignition
switch is set to the “START” position.
