2.1 Installation Overview
When setting u p you r cam era, you shou ld take the follow ing step s:
1)
Pow er d ow n all equ ip m ent.
2)
Follow ing the m an u factu rer‘s instru ctions, install the fram e grabber (if ap p licable). Be
su re to observe all static p recau tions.
3)
Install any necessary im aging softw are.
4)
Before connecting p ow er to the cam era, test all p ow er su p p lies.
5)
Insp ect all cables and connectors p rior to installation. Do not u se d am aged cables or
connectors. The cam era m ay be d am aged as a resu lt.
6)
Connect Cam era Link and p ow er cables.
7)
After connecting cables, ap p ly p ow er to the cam era.
8)
Check the d iagnostic LED. If the cam era is op erating correctly, the LED w ill flash for
ap p roxim ately 30 second s and then tu rn solid green. See 2.2.1 LED Statu s Ind icator
for a d escrip tion of LED states.
You m u st also set u p the other com p onents of you r system , inclu d ing light sou rces,
cam era m ou nts, com p u ters, op tics, encod ers, and so on.
A note on Camera Link cable quality and length
The m axim u m allow able Cam era Link cable leng th d ep end s on the qu ality of the cable
u sed and the Cam era Link strobe frequ ency. Cable qu ality d egrad es over tim e as the cable
is flexed . As the Cam era Link strobe frequ ency is increased , the m axim u m allow able cable
length w ill d ecrease.
Im aging p erform ance m ay be com p rom ised if you u se low qu ality cables of
any
length. In
general, u se high qu ality cables in lengths less than 10 m eters.
