Installing an External Memory Card
You do not need to power off the system or remove the MSM from the chassis to install an external
memory card.
You need the following tools and equipment to install an external memory card:

ESD-preventive wrist strap
●
Industrial grade compact flash memory card (as described in Table 9 )
To install the external compact flash memory card, do the following:
1 Attach the ESD-preventive wrist strap, that is provided, to your wrist and connect the metal end to
the ground receptacle that is located on the top-left corner of the switch front panel.
2 Locate the compact flash slot on the MSM, as shown in Figure 13 .

3 Grasp the memory card between your thumb and forefinger.
For the BlackDiamond 10K switch, the side with the ridge should face to the left of the chassis.
For the Aspen switch, the side with the ridge should face towards the bottom of the chassis.
4 Slide the card into the compact flash slot until you feel resistance. A portion will extrude from the
slot.
5 Gently push the card until it is seated into the slot. The card should be fully inserted, or seated,
inside the slot.
6 To verify that the card is fully seated, use the
show memorycard
command.
