Removing an Aspen 8810 MSM or I/O Module
This section describes important safety information and correct procedures for removing an Aspen 8810
MSM or I/O module. All Aspen modules are hot-swappable. You do not need to power the system off
to remove an Aspen module.
Follow these steps to ensure proper removal of an MSM or I/O module:
1
Attach the ESD-preventive wrist strap, that is provided, to your wrist and connect the metal end of
the ESD-preventive wrist strap to the ground receptacle that is located on the top-left corner of the
Aspen chassis.
2
Unlock the module by turning each captive screw back one-quarter turn counter-clockwise (90
degrees)
in both injector/ejector handles. Use a # 2 Phillips screwdriver.
CAUTION
Loosening the captive screws beyond 90 degrees will damage the injector/ejector handles on the modules.
3
Verify that the red line of each captive screw in both injector/ejector handles is set in a horizontal
position. This position ensures that the module is unlocked as shown in
Figure 74
.
