Replacing the Encoder
Use this procedure to replace the encoder. This procedure can be performed with access to the
left/right of the machine in production line. This section shows the procedure performed when
the machine is not in production line.

To replace the encoder
1. Turn off all electrical power to the system. For more information, refer to the section
“ Shutting Down the System ” on page 59.
2. Remove the cable ties and screws.
3. Remove the encoder and replace with a new encoder.
4. Turn on all electrical power to the system. For more information, refer to the section
“ Shutting Down the System ” on page 59.
5. After replacing the new encoder, check the encoder signal for green light ON.
6. Pay attention to the cable paths and configuration.
7. Perform encoder read head adjustment after replacing the encoder read head, refer to the
section “ Adjusting the Encoder Read Head ” on page 145.
