7. Start up and drive the vehicle for 10 minutes. Stop the engine and check that the
parking brake caliper has not been dragging. A strong “brake material” smell and a
very hot brake disc would indicate that the parking brake caliper is adjusted too tight.
Re-adjust if necessary.
Hydraulic Brake Calipers
Maintenance Schedule
- Inspect every 50 hrs of vehicle operation
The brakes must be inspected regularly by a qualified mechanic. Damaged or leaking
calipers can seriously cause a reduction in the CENTAUR braking ability. Severe
personal injury or property damage could result from a damaged or poorly adjusted
brake system.
Inspect the calipers for the conditions listed in the chart below and then perform the
recommended servicing procedures.

Adjusting the Parking Brake Cable
If, after adjusting the brake caliper, the parking brake lever still does not firmly apply the
parking brake, then
brake cable
adjustment is required.
