Installing The Driver Clutch
10. When mounting the driver clutch to the engine, the drive belt needs to be installed at
the same time. Slip the drive belt over the driven clutch at the transmission and then
over the driver. Slip the driver on to the tapered shaft of the engine.

11. Mount the driver clutch using the specified bolt and flat washer. Torque to specifica -
tions. Do not over-tighten. The tapered shaft could cause the hub of the clutch to
expand resulting in poor performance.
12. Reinstall the battery and connect the
wiring.
13. Install the engine access cover.

Driven Clutch Inspection
Maintenance Schedule-
Inspect every 50
Hours of operation
2. Inspect the clutch. Perform the servicing procedure, Driven Clutch Removal be -
low if:
1. Remove the engine access cover.
Lubrication of the driven clutch is not recommended. Ensure that the clutch is always clean
and dry.
•
the clutch plates have tracking grooves caused by drive belt action
•
the clutch plates are cracked or bent
•
the nylon slider shoes are missing, melted, or worn through
•
the spring is cracked or broken
Driven Clutch Removal
To remove the driven clutch, perform the servicing procedure, Driver Clutch Removal
on page CS-6.
You will also have to remove the drive chain on the driven clutch side,
from the transmission sprocket, to the middle rear wheel. This will allow the driven clutch
enough clearance at the end of the input shaft when slipping it off. Slide both clutches off
together.
