6.  Disconnect the steering linkage at the yoke directly behind the seat.  Remove the cotter 

pin that secures the clevis pin and slide the clevis pin free of the linkage.

7.  Remove the locknut from the shoulder screw of the steering lever assembly and slip 

the lever and spring from the shaft.

& 24   Vehicles manufactured after 

serial # V2001D-0108063 have a steering lock system to prevent the steering from 

moving until the driver is seated. Disassemble this bracket from the steering lever as 

well when removing.  See Photo ST-42 on page ST-16  for details.

8.  Unfasten the single transmission mount at the lower frame directly behind the seat 

compartment.  Remove the Bolt, 2 square flat washers and locknut.

   The 1 square flat washer is a locking type.

9.  Remove the 4 mounting bolts and locknuts securing the transmission to the  left and 

right hand side transmission mount bracket assemblies.
