Figure 316
, above, shows an example of a port selection being edited.
The
Add Port, Remove Port
and
Add by type
buttons are not visible when
the dialog box is used to edit a device-only selection, as used with
device-based configuration templates.
If the
Configuration Editor
dialog box is being used to edit a device-based
configuration template, then the
Selection Editor
dialog box will only
show the devices in the current selection, and will allow the addition of
devices from the current map to the selection. However, if a port-based
configuration template is being edited then the
Selection Editor
dialog
box will additionally allow all ports belonging to the currently selected
devices to be viewed, and will indicate which of these ports is currently
selected. In turn, it will also allow the modification of both the devices
and ports which are selected.
Editing Device and Port Selections
When the
Selection Editor
dialog box is launched to view or edit a
selection, all items in the selection will be displayed in the Selection
Contents tree, on the left of the
Selection Editor
dialog box. By default,
this will initially be based on the devices, end-stations and/or links
currently selected in the map, according to the type of configuration
template that the selection applies to, as follows:
For device-based configuration templates, the selection will contain:
■
all devices that are selected in the map.
For port-based configuration templates, the selection will contain:
■
all ports attached to links that are selected in the map
■
all ports attached to end-stations that are selected in the map
■
all devices that are selected in the map. Note that none of the ports
will be selected on these devices by default, unless selected by one of
the previous two points.
A device that is not currently in the selection can be added by clicking the
Add Device…
button. This will display the
Find Device
dialog box to allow
a choice of devices to add to the selection. This dialog box can be used to
find devices in the map by various criteria and add them to the selection
being edited. The devices chosen with the
Find Device
dialog box will be
added to the selection, and displayed in the selection contents tree.
