3.5.12 Setting Bin Feeder Drive Belt Tension
The bin feeder drive belts must be tensioned correctly. Careful setting of the
belt tensions will ensure that optimum machine operation is achieved.
•
If the belts are too tight
, the feeder clutch pulley bearings will become
over loaded, inducing ‘feeder creep’. Feeder creep occurs when there is
excessive drag on the clutch shaft, which in turn, causes the feeder
band to rotate when the clutch is not engaged.
•
If the belts are too slack
, they can ‘jump teeth’ over the pulleys, or
induce an offset between sheets in the set.
It is also important to ensure that the belts do not ‘track’ across the pulleys dur-
ing operation.
Procedure
1. Disconnect the DigiVAC from the mains power supply.
2. Remove all the bin module side covers from the L/H side of the machine.
3. Open the rear conveyor door.
