Feeder Modules
Procedure
1. Disconnect the DigiVAC from the mains power supply.
2. Remove the joint plates, top conveyor coupling plate, feeder belt clamp
plates and feeder clutch plates from the L/H side of the machine (See
p.15).
3. Disconnect the faulty feeder clutch from the 900-174 feeder control PCB.
4. Remove the anti-static bearing and two nylon washers from the end of the
clutch shaft.
5. Remove the feeder clutch shaft assembly from the machine.

6. Remove the circlip.
7. Remove the split pin, and slide the clutch off the end of the shaft.
8. Before re-assembly, check the feeder clutch pulley bearing (see Section
9. Re-assemble the clutch shaft using a new clutch and split pin. Refit the cir-
clip.
10. Slide the clutch shaft assembly back into position on the machine. Make
sure that the drive coupling is located fully onto the feeder stub shaft and
that the bin feeder drive belt (see Figure 3:14 on page 30) is correctly
wrapped around the clutch pulley.
11. Re-fit the anti-static bearing and the two nylon washers.
12. Connect the clutch to the 900-174 feeder control PCB
13. Re-fit the clutch support plate, ensuring that the four clutch anti-rotation
pins are correctly located in the clutch bodies.
14. Re-fit all other plates in the reverse order to removal. Make sure that all
screws are fully tightened.
15. Re-fit the control panel and side panels.
16. Test the machine operation.
3.5.4 Checking and Lubricating the Feeder Clutch Pulley Bearing
If an operator reports poor feeding with excessive Jam errors, it may be caused
by ‘feeder creep’. Feeder creep occurs when there is excessive drag on the
clutch shaft, which in turn, causes the feeder band to rotate when the clutch is
not engaged. This can be caused by
• a faulty feeder clutch (see Section 3.5.3)
• a dry or dirty feeder clutch pulley bearing.
