1460/61 INSTRUCTION MANUAL

oscillator - an electronic component that provides a stable electrical signal of a given frequency;

time base feature that allows the Master Time Programmer to synchronize its time
keeping to its internal crystal oscillator

open - to display the contents of a menu

parallel port - a connection (usually LPT1 on a computer) where a cable for a parallel device

(such as a printer) is installed

read only memory (ROM) - a solid state storage chip that can have its information read, but not

rewritten

RESET relay - one of the relays of a clock circuit

reverse polarity - a means by which impulse clocks can be advanced each minute and corrected

on the same pair of wires by reversing the polarity of the signal sent out on those wires

RUN relay - one of the relays of a clock circuit

scatter correction - see 12 hour correction

schedule - a sequence of events

scroll - to move items of a list up or down in order to see the parts of the list that are not displayed

secondary clock - a correctable clock that is part of a time system (e.g., a master clock system)

select - to pick a desired item from a list

serial port - a connection (such as the 1468A RS-232 Port of the Master Time Programmer, or

COM1 of a computer) where a cable for a serial communications device is installed

Set Defaults Menu - the menu that allows the user access to program how the Master Time

Programmer operates, such as options used and time format

signal circuit - a circuit which operates bells and utility devices in accordance with a programmed

schedule of events

signal duration - the elapsed time that a duration event activates its signals

software - the set of instructions for a computing device, such as the Master Time Programmer

special function - a feature of the Master Time Programmer that allows a technician to access

and change certain programming information not accessible from other menus

special schedule - see alternate schedule
