1460/61 INSTRUCTION MANUAL

ASCII character set - the American Standard Code for Information Interchange 8-bit character

set. It consists of the first 128 (0-127) characters of the ANSI character set.

backlight - a source of illumination that originates behind an LCD to enhance its readability

baud - a unit used to measure the speed of data communication

bell circuit - see signal circuit

circuit - a path for electrical current

clock circuit - a circuit which drives and provides correction signals to secondary clocks

clock code - a number that must be programmed into the Master Time Programmer to cause

the clock circuit to send the proper correction signals for a specific type of secondary
clock

COM port - see serial port

contrast - the difference between the foreground of a character of the LCD and background of

the display

daylight savings time - a unit of time (usually 1 hour) that is ahead of the standard time of a

time zone

diagnostic routine - a feature of the Master Time Programmer that operates its hardware

in a particular manner to help technicians determine if a hardware failure exists

disable - to incapacitate a feature of the Master Time Programmer

display circuits feature - a feature of the Master Time Programmer that indicates on the LCD

which clock circuits or signal circuits are activated

duration event - an event which activates its associated signal circuits for a short period of

time (0 to 60 seconds)

edit - to revise an alternate date or event

enable - to permit a feature of the Master Time Programmer to operate

event - a programmed occurrence which changes the status of one or more of the signal circuits

of the Master Time Programmer

firmware - the combination of a read only memory (ROM) and the program it contains
