Chapter 5. Using the Library

Getting Information
There are two ways to get information from or about the library. See the following:
•
Getting Information from the Library LEDs
, below
•
Getting Information from the RLC
on page 44
Getting Information from the Library LEDs
Initialization
All LEDs are updated during power up and reset sequences. On initialization or
software reset, the library illuminates all LEDs. This helps you to verify that all the
LEDs are functional. When initialization starts, all LEDs are extinguished, and the
READY
LED flashes at a rate of approximately one second per cycle (50% duty cycle).
When the robotics initialization is complete, the
READY
LED stops flashing and is
constantly illuminated.
Failures
If a library failure occurs, the
READY
LED is turned off and the
ERROR
LED illuminates.
The front panel display also displays a specific error code to help identify the nature of
the failure. For detailed error code information, see
Error Codes
on page 88.
General LED Behaviors
In the normal course of using the Spectra T24 library, you may see the other behaviors
of the LEDs as described here:
The
READY
LED is lit any time the unit is powered on and functional. The
READY
LED
blinks during initialization and during robotics or drive activity. This LED also blinks
when the unit is offline.
The
CLEAN
LED is only lit when a Cleaning Required command has been issued by a
tape drive. The LED turns off again after a successful drive cleaning operation.
The
ATTENTION
LED indicates that a piece of media is bad, marginal, or invalid. This
LED is cleared when all bad, marginal, and invalid cartridges have been exported from
the library.
The
ERROR
LED is lit when there is an unrecoverable error. An error message
simultaneously displays on the OCP. The LED remains lit until the error state is
resolved.
