Tape Movement Issues
Cannot Load a Cleaning Cartridge
Make sure you are using an Ultrium universal cleaning cartridge.
Tape Stuck in Drive
Note:
Make sure that the backup software is not reserving the slot or
preventing the drive from ejecting the tape. While troubleshooting
this issue, you may want to disconnect the library from the host
server to eliminate the host and its software as a problem source.
Power cycle the library and allow it to complete initialization. Let the drive complete all
operations. This may take as long as ten minutes if you reset or cycle power on the
library while the cartridge is positioned at the physical end of the media.
Caution:
Do not force the tape out of the drive
. If the tape is still stuck,
contact Spectra Logic Technical Support.
Tape Stuck in Slot
In the event of a severe mechanical problem with the library or if circumstances
require you to remove tape cartridges by hand, follow these steps:
1.
Move any tapes from the drive(s) to the magazine(s). See
Moving Media within
the Library
on page 48.
2.
Release the magazine and remove it from the library. See
Loading and
Unloading a Magazine
on page 50.
3.
Remove the media by hand.
Caution:
Do not force the tape out of the slot
. If the tape is still stuck,
contact Spectra Logic Technical Support.
