Define connection rate. 64kbps is European standard, 56kbps
is typically used in America for certain switch types.
Recordings being sent in America may need to be recorded at
56kbps, or 64kbps.

To exit without changing any settings select [Close].

To support all of the different types of ISDN available, Courier uses three different
sources of ISDN firmware code which cover these variants :

1.

Euro ISDN and French VN3.

2.

Japanese and Korean.

3.

North America.

If you switch from one type of ISDN to another, you will need to upgrade the ISDN
firmware and Courier attempts to do this on selecting [Close]. It follows the same
procedure as the [ISDN Upgrade Code] option below.

From time to time, new versions of ISDN firmware may become available on the
website. To load this into the Courier you will need to use the [ISDN Upgrade
Code] option.

12.4.1.2. Upgrading the ISDN firmware

Once you have selected the country code for the type of ISDN line that you will be
dialling into, select the [ISDN Upgrade Code] option from the [Setup], [System],
[Comms Setup] menu.

For this to work correctly, the ISDN firmware upgrade file must be stored on the
root directory of the PCMCIA disk currently in the Courier. If you need to obtain
this file, please email the Sonifex technical support team at the address on the
inside front cover of this handbook.

An ISDN upgrade is performed once you have confirmed that you wish to upgrade.
A percentage complete indicator is provided and you’ll see the following screens :
