7.10. Merging linear files
The Courier is able to take two linear files of the same file settings and merge them
to become one cut. This may be useful in recording background sounds or music
onto a main recording.
Note: The merge option will only appear when two valid files are selected for
merging.
To merge the files, select the 2 linear files using the SELECT button. Then press
the MENU button and select [Merge].
This brings up two options [Merge To Longest] and [Merge To Shortest].
[Merge To Longest] creates a cut with a duration of the longest file. This plays
both tracks on top of each other and then when the shortest file finishes, the longest
file plays alone for the remainder of the time.
[Merge To Shortest] This generates a file of the same duration as the shortest file.
Again it plays the tracks on top of one another and then as the shortest file finishes
it stops, also cutting the longer file.
Selecting either of these options brings up a “creating new file” screen.
The new file is saved as the next file in order and will be of the same duration as
one of the files selected to merge.
