Chapter 8 - Using the Courier file system

To end the directory name, either use all eight characters, or enter two space
characters, one after the other.
Note : The space character can not be used in DOS directory names or
filenames, so if you enter one space, any characters after this will be ignored.
If you want to quit from this screen at any time without making any changes, press
the MENU button.
Once the new name has been entered, you will be asked to confirm it :
Enter on [OK] if the new name is correct, or select [Cancel] if not.
Now, any recordings that you make will be made into the new [Record Directory].
Note : If the directory that you have entered doesn’t yet exist on the disk, the
new directory is created as soon as you return to the Cut-List.
8.3.2. Information files
Information files consist of :
Setup files - Setup files contain all the information needed to configure the Courier
for your particular method of operation. They have the extension .ini (like
Windows 3.11 information files) and are stored in the \SETUPS directory. If you
put the files into a different directory, Courier will not be able to use them to
configure the options.
Firmware files - These files are used to upgrade the internal software version of
Courier and have an extension of .dwn (for “downloadable”). They are stored in the
root directory of the disk, which is where Courier will look for them when you load
new firmware. ISDN firmware files are also stored in the root directory and have
the format sf*.lm (where * = e for european, us for US or asia for Asian).
Text files - Any text files with the extension .txt are stored in the \TEXT directory.
Currently, Courier does not use text files. Script files are stored in the \TEXT
directory and have the extension .scp.
