8.1.4. Deleting multiple cuts from the disk
You can select multiple tracks that you wish to delete from the disk whilst in the
Cut-List Mode by highlighting each individual track and pressing the SELECT
button :
Select DELETE to show :
[Yes] to delete the selected files
[No] to return to Cut-List Mode. The selected tracks remain selected.
8.2. Disk management
The PCMCIA disks used for recording on Courier are either removable hard-disks
or flash cards. You should try to keep as few audio cuts, or files, on the disk as
possible, for two reasons :
1. The fewer the cuts on the disk, the faster the Courier will be able to read the
file-structure when it is powered up.
2. The more files that there are on the disk, the more likely it is that disk
fragmentation will occur - this happens when there is a shortage of space on the
disk to record onto and portions of a particular cut become scattered across the
disk. This makes it difficult for Courier to record (write) or play (read) the cut,
leading to possible errors.
So, it is advisable to periodically delete all cuts from the disk, or format the disk.
Typically, this would be carried out each time a set of recordings or edits is
completed so that once the cuts have been played out, transferred to another media,
or edited, you can erase the disk by formatting it and begin recording again.
