5.8 Service Tool

The Service Tool is included in the scope of delivery and is on the CD or USB memory stick. The
Service Tool is also available to download from the support area (see also chapter 3.7 Updating the
operating software in the REA ScanCheck 3n

5.8.1 Creating profiles with the Service Tool

REA considers a profile to be the consolidation of all device-dependent settings that can be
configured for the evaluations in the software. The creation and use of user profiles is particularly
expedient if the user produces or checks multiple codes for multiple customers for example, and
requires different verifier configurations for the various customers.
In order to avoid these configurations being entered again manually every time, it is possible to
save individually created configurations as “profiles” in the device or the PC program.
Profiles can be selected again at any time via the dialogue described further below, and then be
activated.
Instead of entering various setting menus and being required to make changes in the measuring
configuration step by step every time, it is then sufficient to bring the complete device configuration
to a previously specified status with the aid of selectable profiles.
Attention: A profile is only accepted for application with the associated verifier if it is also fully
applicable.
In the following cases, a previously created profile is not fully applicable under certain
circumstances:
• if the activated software options have changed
• after a software update of the device software (firmware)

With the “Manage profiles and user” button in the Service Tool, it is possible to create or export new
profiles. Creating profiles in TransWin32 is described in the corresponding manual for this software.
