COUPLANT
— Use a couplant that “fills in” the surface. On smooth surfaces,
thinner couplants can be used such as water, light oil, or mineral oil. On rough
surfaces, Sonic
®
X30S couplant (#3317450) is more appropriate.

Instrument Calibration - 0.5” Thickness Range, Steel

Connect the transducer cable to the Spectrum™ E8L transducer, and then to either BNC
connector.

Turn on instrument power and adjust the operating controls as follows:

Place X30S couplant on the step block and position the transducer on the thinnest (0.100)
step.
To select and change the following parameters, press the
menu soft key
below the
selected menu box, then rotate the SmartKnob™ or press the INC/DEC arrow keys to
change the value.
