Chapter 14 : Routing Simplified
Routing Simplified > Introduction
DLZ Creator routing was discussed briefly throughout the manual, but we would like to break it down even moreso.
While channel faders 1-4, 11/12 and the Main LR fader are dedicated inputs and outputs (with the faders only controlling
the level of whatever is connected to them), stereo channel faders 5-10 operate slightly differently. In fact, these channel
faders actually control multiple inputs / sources! That said, only one input / source may be selected at a time. A good way
to think about it is to compare channel faders 5-10 to that of a Swiss Army® knife. There are a lot of tools, but only one
may be used at a time.
Routing Simplified > Source Selection
Here is a recap of those channels, their respective faders and source selection. We will place them in order
of degree of difficulty. That said, we hope you don’t find it too difficult since it’s really not!
None:
We’re not sure why you would select “none” as the source, but the result is the same for all three channels.
There is nothing connected to these input channels, nor a computer (USB-C) connection to route audio from
the computer to DLZ Creator... or phone for Bluetooth or flash drive / microSD card for recording on channel 9/10.
This is as basic as it gets. No routing going on ’round these parts!
Line, Aux (phone, tablet), Bluetooth:
The next “easiest” setup is simply using these as channel inputs, raising and lowering
the levels of whatever is connected to these inputs.
Line = Channel 5/6 line inputs = 1/4" L/R jacks on the rear panel of DLZ Creator
Aux (phone, tablet) = Channel 7/8 line input = single 1/8" stereo jack, also on the rear panel
These inputs were explained in much greater detail in Chapter 2, page 11.
Bluetooth = Channel 9/10 = Bluetooth is for connecting a phone to this channel for call-in guests.
This input was explained in much greater detail in Chapter 11, page 68.
USB Audio, USB / SD:
The “easiest” of these input options is channel 9/10, so we’ll start there, then return to stereo
channels 5/6-7/8.
USB / SD = Channel 9/10 = this fader will raise and lower the volume of the playback, whether recorded to a USB
flash drive or microSD card. While the source is set up via the channel 9/10 tab, the playback is part of the media
tab and it was explained in much greater detail in Chapter 8, pages 50-52.
Now things are getting fun! DLZ Creator utilizes a digital / analog hybrid channel type that allows audio to be sent FROM
the computer TO the DLZ Creator via the USB 1/2 and/or USB 3/4 channels. These are routed to channel faders 5/6 and 7/8.
This allows you to record all input channels to the computer via USB and/or return two independent audio streams of stereo
playback from a computer.
USB Audio = Channel 5/6 = this fader will raise and lower the volume of USB 1/2 OR USB 3/4 RETURN,
depending on the source selection.
USB Audio = Channel 7/8 = this fader will raise and lower the volume of USB 1/2 OR USB 3/4 RETURN,
depending on the source selection.
