Chapter 5 : Overview Tab
Introduction
Located in the upper left-hand corner of the DLZ Creator display is the first tab: Overview. This is the main view, and where
you will (most likely) spend most of the time. After touring the DLZ Creator, this is the default landing screen. It is also called
the home screen and is easily accessed by tapping the big home button regardless of what view is displayed!
While parameters are not updated here, it does allow access to the channel selection bar that lies horizontally across
the bottom of the display. Channel meters are viewed here, as well. Additionally, in the upper-right corner of the display are
three small icons: microSD card, USB and Bluetooth. These will illuminate white to show connectivity and are grayed out if not.
Also displayed on the home screen is the current play status and color of each sample pad (which match the sample
pad colors on the hardware). To the right of the sample pad play status and colors are the currently assigned mix levels
(which may be raised and lowered via the quick control knobs, also on the hardware). On easy mode, it’s the headphone
levels. Headphone levels and multiple other features are available in enhanced or pro mode, such as channel gain level,
panning, EQ, FX send levels and much more!
As stated above, parameters are not updated here. However, there are three things that may be tapped:
(1) any of the square channel ID buttons on the aforementioned channel selection bar lying horizontally across
the bottom of the display. The currently selected channel will illuminate to indicate that it is the selected channel.
Channel 1 as seen above. When parameters are updated, it’s on the channel that has been selected.
Go ahead and tap some of the other channel IDs to get a feel for it, then return back to channel 1 selected...
or double-tap a channel ID to go directly to that channel’s parameters!
(2) any of the four sample banks (A-D). There are six samples available per bank for a total of 24 samples!
Again, we suggest tapping between the four banks, returning to “A” when complete. Notice that the other three banks
are completely blank, awaiting your samples. Additionally, notice that the sample pads themselves are no longer illuminated
in the other three banks, either.
(3) any of the tabs on the navigation bar lying horizontally across the top of the display. This includes the overview, channel,
FX, media, snapshots, samples and settings tabs. Ok, one more time! Tap around between the tabs to get a feel for it, returning
to the ‘Overview’ tab when play time is over.
Tapping any of the four headphone volume tabs laid out vertically on the far-right of the display will take you directly
to that headphone’s mix mode and other settings. Note: this only works in Pro Mode. More on this feature later.
And by later we mean the next page...
