1. Start-up to the upper and lower range limits (RL.U and RL.L).
Wait until the actual value in the grey box next to the configured limit value is reached and
then save the value.
2. Click ’Exit configuration’.
3. Close the window.
6.3.4
Shut-off Limits
6.3.4.1 Run to Shut-off Limits
The CMS tolerances, as they must be in every control system, have an effect on the position-
ing accuracy. These tolerances can be influenced by parameter settings.
When adjusting the combustion system, it must be ensured that the flame burns safely and
stably, even when these tolerances are taken into account.
To prove this, it is necessary to check the settings of the electronic ratio control not only for
the adjusted set points, but also at the so-called shut-off limits.
These are the actuator values the burner control unit can reach due to the permissible toler-
ances without switching off at this point.
This check must be made for the entire firing rate range and for all operating modes. This
check can only be omitted if one of the following statements is true:
•
The system is equipped with a failsafe CO or O
2
monitoring system which can trigger a
burner shutdown in the event of incomplete combustion.
•
The system is equipped with a failsafe CO/O
2
control which compensates for the toleranc-
es of the combustion system.
•
It is ensured that the relevant operating mode contains enough excess air throughout the
entire range and that the tolerances of the burner control unit are therefore irrelevant.
•
The CMS parameters are set in such a way that the tolerances in the direction of air defi-
ciency are 0 digits, i.e. there is only a tolerance to the excess air side.
NOTICE
If the verification of the shutdown limits on the basis of one of these measures can be omitted,
the effectiveness of this measure must be checked instead. For example, in the case of CO/
O
2
monitoring or CO/O
2
control, the stability of the combustion system must be checked at
the set shutdown limit value.
NOTICE
The approaching of the shutdown limits must be documented on basis of proof to authorities,
test centres, quality management systems, liability issues, etc.
6.3.4.2 Checking the Shut-OFF Limits of the CMS with the CMS Remote Software
RL.U
: To proceed, use the up arrow key or enter the value for the
upper limit into the text box.
RL.L:
To proceed, use the down arrow key or enter the value for
the lower limit into the text box.
