pressure. It is calculated only when a profile start marker is present. If a profile
end marker is set before the urethral pressure equals the resting bladder
pressure, the functional urethral length is the length between the profile start
and profile end marker.
Puller speed
The speed at which the catheter is withdrawn through the urethra. The speed
unit is mm/minute. The ICS standard is 60 mm/minute (= 1 mm/second).
The profilometry results for this investigation are only valid if a LABORIE
catheter puller is used to pull out the catheter during the investigation. Pulling
the catheter manually yields unpredictable, erroneous results due to variations
and inaccuracy in pulling speed. The puller speed, as set in the protocol, is
used to calculate distance and area related parameters.
Bladder filling
The infused volume in the bladder.
Average transmission
The average percentages of the calculated transmissions.
Prostatic length / Urethral continence zone
The prostatic (male) or urethral continence zone (female) is the length of the
urethra until the point where the maximum closure pressure is measured. It is
calculated as the product of the puller speed and the time to reach the
maximum urethral closure pressure.
