Replacing Safety Belts
6
CAUTION
Care should be taken to avoid
contamination of the webbing
with polishes, oils and chemi
cals, and particularly battery
acid. Cleaning may safely be
carried out using mild soap and
water. The belt should be
replaced if webbing becomes
frayed, contaminated or
damaged.
It is essential to replace the
entire assembly after it has been
worn in a severe impact even if
damage to the assembly is not
obvious.

serious injury or even death 1n a
collision. To help make sure
your restraint systems are
working properly after a crash,
have them inspected and
replaced, as necessary, as soon
as possible.
Section 2
If you have been in a collision
where the belts may have been
stretched, or if the safety belt is
cut or damaged, the belt needs
to be replaced. Repairs may be
necessary even if the safety belt
was not used at the time of the
collision. Have the restraint system
inspected after a collision.
If you are in a collision serious
enough to deploy the air bags, any
belt worn during the collision must
be replaced.
