Starting and Operating Instructions
•
If your vehicle does stall while
travelling up-hill, and you are
unable to back straight down,
do the following:
- Set the park brake.
- If your vehicle is fitted with an
automatic transmission, shift
into
P
(Park).
- Turn off the engine.
- Make sure that the transfer
case is in a drive gear and not
in
N
(Neutral). Otherwise,
the vehicle will be free to
roll even if the automatic
transmission is in
P
(Park) or
the manual transmission is in
gear.
- Exit the vehicle on the up-hill
side and get help. Stay clear
of the vehicle's roll-over path .

CAUTION
Shifting the transfer case to
N
(Neutral) can cause your vehicle
to roll even if the transmission is
in
P
(Park) (or, if you have the
manual transmission, even if
I
you're in gear). This is because
the
N
(Neutral)
on the
transfe case
the
transmission.
The vehicle could move
suddenly. You or others may be
injured and objects could be
damaged.
DRIVING DOWN-HILL
When off-roading takes you
down-hill, you'll want to consider
a number of things:
•
How steep is the down-hill
slope? Willi be able to
maintain vehicle control?
=
'vVhat's the surface like?
Smooth? Rough? Slippery?
Hard-packed dirt? Gravel?
•
Are there hidden surface
obstacles? Ruts? Logs?
Boulders?
•
What's at the bottom of the
hill? Is there a hidden creek
bank or even a river bottom
with large rocks?
