&
CAUTION
Although your vehicle is fitted
with a passenger air bag
deactivation feature which is
designed to turn off the
passenger's air bag under
certain conditions, no system is
fail-safe. No one can guarantee
that an air bag will not
deploy under some unusual
circumstance, even though the
system is deactivated.
It is therefore recommended that
child restraints be secured in a
rear seat position.
In fact, because the risk to a
rear-facing child is so great if the
air bag deploys, there is a label
on your vehicle's sun visor that
cautions you never to put a
rear-facing child seat in the front.
&
CAUTION
(Continued)
If, however, you secure a
forward-facing child restraint in
the front passenger seat, be
sure to move the front passen
ger seat as far back as it will go.
Section 2
&
CAUTION
Air bags are designed to be
used with the safety belts. Even
with an air bag, if you are in a
crash and not wearing a safety
belt, your injuries could be
much worse.
Also, for some unrestrained
occupants, frontal air bags may
provide less protection in fron
tal crashes than more forceful
air bags have provided in the
past.
